About me

'Drawing is the backbone of all artistic endeavours'

I live and work in a Pennine village in West Yorkshire, where I moved to twenty years ago from London. I studied in London and Leeds, where I did my MA in Fine Art. I have a well-equipped printmaking studio, where i produce my own work, and where occasionally other printmakers join me to work. I have taught widely in Yorkshire, and worked for five years at West Yorkshire Print Workshop as their Technical Manager. I have been a member of Inkers for ten years, a group of 15 experienced printmakers who as well as working individually, work under the group name for residencies and exhibitions.

I have recently taken a second studio to develop my painting skills, and in recent years I have also worked with porcelain clay and polymer resin. i believe it is good practise to work in other media now and again to liven one's artistic specialisation; to inform one's artistic practice in whatever media you may have chosen to specialise in.

I have always loved drawing, it is the backbone of all artistic endeavours, and something all artists should come back to regularly. I am happy with pencil in hand and a bit of paper, even if I am just doodling. I read of an artist who recently died aged 80 at his work table in the middle of doing a drawing. I can't wish for a better way to go than that when my time comes!.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work, it should say more about me than any words can.
